"...It is written in the prophets, 'And they shall be all taught of God.' Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me..." The Lord Jesus - John 6:45
"...O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.
...And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones.
...And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children..." Isa 54:11-13.
".... Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD..." Jer 31:31-34.
"...A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them..."Ezek 36:26-27.
Taught Of God
CM
We hear so much from men's teaching,
To make men know the Lord;
And their words are ever reaching
Where their powers may afford.
But 'tis this I must consider,
Though men's words slightly flow;
Or they preach with all their ardor, -
What does their wisdom show?
When we look upon the Scriptures,
The word that Jesus shows;
We can find with these no matchers,
Where our allegiance owes;
God called many to be teachers,
To help upon the way;
Ordains, and calls His Own preachers,
And teaches them to pray;
But to teach His Own to know Him,
This power these never had;
'Tis a true child of God's maxim,
Though, makes some others sad.
Though we strive to teach our children,
What's always good and right;
And to be the worthy patron
Of those beneath our sight;
No power to know and love the Lord,
Can we to children give;
Our natu'ral love cannot afford,
To make men with God live;
Our love and zeal, so strong and firm,
We'd lead them to the Lord;
But have forgotten to discern,
Where God His Grace has poured.
For, God Himself, His children makes,
No more our faith affords;
On His Word, and His Spirit's sake,
We stand in these accords.
Though tears may run down our old face,
And we may say with Paul:
- 'Could separate from Jesus' face'
Because this love withal;
- And of our flesh would children make
To know and praise the Lord;
Cause them the ways of sin forsake,
For long have we implored;
But to give new hearts unto man,
This power no mortal has,
When flesh and blood's done all it can,
Still says, Alas! Alas!
For flesh and blood no entrance has,
May not God's children be;
Which lies within the fallen mass,
And lost in earth's dead sea;
Man cannot redeem his own soul,
For others, ransom give;
In Heavens list, his name enroll,
Or they with God may live;
But God Himself, must enter in,
And say "I Am your Lord";
And thus they feel His work begin -
Which is in Jesus stored;
- The Son of God, His Life must give,
His Spirit set them free;
His Own heart in them, with Him live,
And thus His child shall be.
They that have of the Father heard,
To Jesus surely come;
- In the Power of Him as The Word,
Before This Power succumb;
In His Own time He'll surely come,
And put all hearts to rest;
To enter in, there shall be some,
Eternally they're blest;
They'll know His Power, they'll feel His Love,
When they're taught of their Lord;
When lifted up with Him above,
In Love and one accord,
To find their name from old enrolled,
But now made known to them;
They feel themselves within His fold,
At rest in Christ's bosom.
They're filled with thankfulness and joy,
And praise sits on their tongues;
Christ's Glory is their sweet employ,
They sing with heart and lungs.
The Hope of Heaven they explore,
To be with Christ above;
To feel the guilt of sin no more,
But only His Dear Love.
