Music In My Soul
C.M. 8.6
I know that heav’nly angels sing,
-Praise their Creator, God,
But more glor’ous song Christ did bring,
By the stroke of God’s rod.
Chorus:
With him forever we will sing
With music in our souls;
With him forever we will sing
With music in our souls.
Of all the music charms my soul,
This is infinitely best;
As this sweet refrain o’er me roll,
And give me heav’nly rest.
It's sweet sound makes me patient wait,
While list’ning to it’s voice;
Makes me content in every state,
When I hear these envoys.
For angels above cannot sing,
The song of the redeemed;
Though the Gospel’s news they may bring,
Where their bright rays have beamed.
O! what song did these beings sing
To shepherds in the field;
O! what glad tidings did they bring
With the news they revealed!
But we sing a more glor’ous song
Than even these did sing;
And join in with the blood bought throng
With hymns never ceasing.
Sometimes my flesh does weary grow,
While singing here this song;
But there my soul will never know
That this dear song’s too long;
So even now, may I have strength,
That sublime notes may flow;
And may Thy Grace give me at length,
The height and breadth to know;
Oh, may Thy Spirit give till last
All things I need below;
And may thy Hand hold my soul fast,
Thy peace on me bestow;
Oh, may the music of Thy Love,
Flow now within my soul;
While my longing heart looks above,
And sweet strains o’er me roll;
For in higher strains we’ll then sing
Unceasing to the Lamb;
And higher praise forever bring
There to the Great I AM;
And while the ages roll along,
We will forever sing;
To Christ to Whom the praise belongs,
Through all eternity!
Chorus:
With Him forever we will sing
With music in our souls;
With Him forever we will sing
With music in our souls.
