A Tribute to Giving in Love
To All Whom Freely Give
"... Give, and it shall be given unto you..." Luke 6:38
"...Freely ye have received, freely give..." Matt 10:8
"... Hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil..." Luke 6:35
"...This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends..." John 15:12-13.
This poem was originally composed in love and honor to Mrs. Terri Richards, who is an example of it's inspiration for me

God has placed in us wisdom, knowledge and truth,
And His Spirit has guided us from our youth;
The world marches onward to fulfill His Will,
For we see His Hand moving in our times still.
As God in His Mercy, still leads me right on,
In this sweet occupation, from dawn to dawn;
How encouraging it is, to sometimes find,
Those who are so giving, in God's Love, so kind.
We've all known lovely people with their good works,
And have sometimes questioned why, with our mind's quirks
-There must be something within them to supply,
All the love and energy, that they apply.
They freely give of themselves, ask not again,
To return one favor, because they're freemen;
They know that what they have is freely given-
This blessed thought, does their actions enliven.
From God, Whom is the Source, of all that's given,
And all of our blessings flow from His Heaven;
Because of His goodness, and kindness to us,
When giving to others, His Glory shines thus:
Our life, health, strength and comfort, pleased Him to give,
In His goodness and Grace, we also do live;
All boasting in ourselves, He has excluded,
For all that we need, in Christ, He included.
And God did ordain this Love in His children,
This Love so free, from their Heavenly Patron;
For what do we have, that we did not receive?
-From the Supreme Giver, in Whom we believe.
The Greatest of Gifts, was the Gift of His Son,
To show His dear Love and kindness, He did run
The gauntlet of suff'ring and mis'ry for us,
And gave us a Love that the world can't nonplus.
He gave His Soul to God, and was satisfied,
For His Bride, He thus gave, and was glorified;
For He had respect unto the great reward,
Though eternally fixed, and in Heaven stored.
What a revenue of praise and thanksgiving,
Flows from our hearts, and returns to His Heaven;
We only give Him what He has first given,
Where His Love in our hearts was first engraven:
The same Love that the Father had for His Son,
In Grace He has loved us, and in our hearts' won;
We see His Grace shining in those whom love give,
The greatest token, that they do in Him live.
