By grace we're saved, not by works So faith this grace attends; Yet the tempter still there lurks In those whom he contends.

Now faith is the gift of God From Whom all blessings flow; This is why it seems so odd When men the counter show.

The faith of God's own elect Is born not of themselves; Nor did they choose to select It from the world's old shelves.

Every good and perfect gift Is found in Christ Divine To keep our bark yet adrift While trav'ling through this clime.

To be desired more than gold The substance which we hope; When we view of things untold Though through this vale we grope

The things that do now appear Shall shortly pass away Faith may seem dim, yet sees clear Through that eternal day;

If the building of this house Should quickly fall away; That house which God now allows Will shine eternally.
