"...Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father,.." 1 Peter 1:2.
"...Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace..." Rom 11:5.
"...I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me..." John 13:18.
"...Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you..."John 15:16.
"...If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you..." John 15:19.
"...(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
.." Rom 9:11-15.
L.M.
At God's choice, men scoff in pride,
From this they steer, from this they hide;
But through the earth, their feed will slide,
To choose what'er their hearts have eyed.
How vain and foolish, then to think,
That man may choose without a blink;
How far from God did man then sink,
When at God's choice, they often wink.
For to themselves they will accede
What God and Christ may not exceed;
And to vain man they will concede
What pride and sin may have fancied.
How is a creature free to choose,
And what he will, so freely use,
When Sovereign Power, they would abuse,
Or preach a god, his choice to lose?
God has His choice forever known,
With all the world, which is His Own;
Though Satan thinks to rule God's throne,
And strives in man to rule alone.
God disposes all of men's plans,
And brings to pass what man's mind bans;
Small is the scope where man's mind scans,
Compared with Him, the heavens spans.
Oh, place your hand upon your mouth,
As far as North is from the South;
There every voice be cold and still,
And bow before God's Holy Will.
