Oh, may my heart and soul now learn;
To Thee alone, may Thy zeal burn;
And bow before Thy mighty throne,
To praise electing Love alone.
When men in sin my peace detect,
When Thou may show I am elect;
I see their envy in them rise,
When of His Grace I would apprise.
God’s Sovereign choice, saints know indeed,
Is by the world all unstudied;
But is the theme saints love the best,
And that in which they fully rest.
If first, Thou’d never chosen me,
I never would have chosen Thee;
To glory in Your choice of me
Thou made in vast eternity.
For this my soul shall ever praise
Thy Sovereign Love till end of days;
Though doubt and fear may sometimes rise,
And clouds obscure my brighter skies.
Thy choice in Christ forever stands,
Till it at last in Heaven lands;
And there with God in Christ above,
Sing ever of electing Love.
