"Dunlap"-
..Sequenced by O.Allen Bailey..
"...Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed..." 1 Pet 3:22-24.
"...For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need..." Heb 4:15-16.
"...And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation..." Heb 9:27-28.
When Sin is Done Away
By O. Allen Bailey
CM
'Tis even sweet, the moments now,
When friends do sing and pray;
But O! the Hope of that sweet Day,
When sin is done away.
We live in Hope from day to day,
Of perfect things above;
And would sometimes no longer stay
With friends, though here in love.
Jesus, our Song and Comfort now,
When He is brought to light;
While to His Power and Love now bow,
And thank Him for the sight.
But sin does often mar our view,
And easily besets;
It's heavy load bows us down too,
Till Jesus gives us rest.
There's no eternal city here,
But we seek one to come;
- Here often walk in doubt and fear,
And to the earth succumb.
For sin will often mar our peace,
While here our race we run;
Till Jesus gives us kind release,
Or takes away earth's fun.
Sometimes, our dear friends who once loved,
From us will turn away;
Sometimes, our own, away we've shoved
When sin is made our stay.
Iniquity sometimes abounds,
Between a friend or foe;
We find ourselves upon these grounds
When we no pity show.
The Golden Rule, often forget,
But seek all of our own;
For sin has placed us all in debt,
That Christ alone has known.
When we are made to Him confess,
What joy the angels know;
To feel His name, in us profess,
Will to the world then show
Disciples love, from breast to breast,
Shall show our Jesus' Love;
For, with these things we often wrest,
Till transformed all above.
Look down in mercy, Our Dear Lord,
When sin is made our stay;
Love, peace, and kindness, us afford,
And take our sin away.
For thou hast died that we would live,
And strength be as our day;
Thy pity, kindness to us give,
And take these things away.
May thy kindness live in us too,
Who sin from day to day;
In thought and word,and all we do,
Till sin is done away.
Thou, Spotless One, Who knew no sin,
But came in earth to stay;
When yet we lay in death and ruin,
And sin was all our day;
-Took our death and sin to Thyself,
And raised us where we lay;
Not for our honor or our pelf,
Who're fashioned from earth's clay;
But to fulfill Thy Father's Will,
In The Eternal Day;
Which Power and Love did then fulfill,
He took our sin away.
It's old domain o'er us did rule,
In Christ is done away;
Since saints have entered in His school,
It's power is flown away.
Though sin will often them still vex,
And trouble every day;
The Law, it's motions in them checks,
Though, still's not done away;
Oh, The sweet Hope, when sin is done,
When saints shall meet that Day;
When sin, it's course in earth has run,
No longer to obey;
Our souls and spirits, bodies changed,
There sin will dwell no more;
We'll know the Power where Love has ranged,
Upon that sinless shore.
Oh, the bright Hope of that sweet Home,
Where sin is done away;
There, never more to be alone,
But Jesus is our Day.
He took our sin, from it to save,
And conquered it, so brave;
His life, in blood and sorrow gave,
In His Own, earthly day;
To give us Hope of that sweet Home,
While yet in earth we stay;
Though, here in sin we sometimes roam,
Till sin is passed away.
But there we'll see Him as he is,
Where sin is fled away;
His Love in fullness, will us give,
In that Eternal Day.
