Oh, What A Peace
By O. Allen Bailey
CM
What a blessing 'tis now to sing
Of Christ and God above;
O! what a peace, when He doth bring
Into my soul, His Love!
O! what a joy in Christ above
When Love does now reveal
To me of that Eternal Love
In Christ did there fullfill!
How good and kind is God to me
To make His glory known,
And show that all His Grace is free
And given in His Son.
I did not earn a farthing here,
That God should me repay;
But 'twas a gift that Christ did bear,
And gave me in that day.
Then what great joy, 'midst sorrow here
That Jesus gives to me;
When He removes all of earth's fear,
And sets my spirit free.
O! what a mys'try, hid from man,
'Till God is pleased to show
Unto the heirs, this wond'rous Plan,
And they it's Glory know.
I sometimes from it's path still stray,
Then little feel to know
What He has done in my past day,
- When joy He did bestow;
But Love will still not let me go,
Though thus I sometimes roam;
And I in joy, no longer know,
Or still can sing this song;
Oh, God, my times are in Thy Hand,
My risings, or demise;
To feel Thy blessings on Thy land,
Or then I can't apprise -
Of Thy great Love, to sinners shown,
- To sinners just like me;
These same sinners, Thy Love has known,
- And Grace has set them free.
