Thy Appearing

By O. Allen Bailey

"… And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain. Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow…" 2 Sam 23:4-5.
"... When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.,,” Col 3:4.
“… I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely…” Rev 22:16-17

8.7

Lord, come with Thy bright appearing,
In hope we wait at Thy door;
Peace and Love our hearts are cheering,
Thy promise now to look o’er.

As the bright sky, with clear shining,
After rain has gone before;
And we see Thy cloud’s bright lining,
Jesus, Whom our souls adore.

He’s as the light of the morning,
Shining warmly through our door;
With all nature’s sweet adorning,
Which Thy Love has kept in store.

Thou, the root and shoot of David,
And the bright and morning Star;
By Thy Power our souls are sav’ed,
And dwells where Thy people are.

For, Thou will come as the morning,
With clear shining in the east;
Each new day here brightly dawning,
When the darkness has deceased.

Thou doth come with Power and glory,
- Makes the darkness flee away;
- Our great mediatory,
Greatly shines in this New Day.

Thy bright beams are to us calling,
When Thy Spirit sweetly says;
“My gentle rain’s on thee falling,
These, but part of all My Ways.”

To feel again, Thy rays shining
On our dark paths here below !
On Thy Love and Goodness dining,
Peace and mercy more to know;

O, Lord we wait Thine appearing,
When dark clouds shall flee away;
When, our hearts, shall not be fearing,
On Thy breast we sweetly lay;

Come, Lord Jesus, come Thou quickly,
We would not Thou make delay;
For our souls are faint and sickly,
May Thy presence with us stay.

“O, Come”, says Christ’s Spirit sweetly,
(He that hears, also says “Come!”;)
To the thirsty, Christ says shortly,
“Thou shalt rest with Me at home.”
