Shall I Awake In His Likeness?

Shall I awake in His likeness,
And be forever blest?
Shall I be raised from my weakness,
And with my Savior rest?

Oh, now I am tired and weary,
Doubt on me is now cast;
My days now drag by so dreary,
Will I see Him at last?

I search for His peace to find me,
To save from my sins past;
His Love I can no longer see,
But fear now holds me fast.

Oh, why do I have these troubles,
When my heart and soul cannot rest?
Cannot love the old world's baubles,
But, still with them I wrest.

Oh, the place where I might find Him!
Then well with me would be;
Again, He'd light my way so dim,
His righteousness, I'd see;

From death my soul again would spring,
My sin no longer view;
Dejection no more my soul wring,
But feel His mercies, new.

But now I wander in the way,
With not a star in sight;
Will He again in my heart stay,
And fill my soul with light?

Oh, now may I wait in patience,
He knows the way I take,
And when I'm through these rotations,
He'll never me forsake.
