When Christ Appeared To Me

6,6,8,6

(SM Version)

Tis a my'stry indeed,
When without hope I lay;
Of Christ, my Lord, I felt no need,
When He appeared that day.

When Christ, my Lord appeared,
Oh, the Hope on that Day!
He gave me sweet peace, where I feared,
And took my sins away.

I'd never sought Him, Dear,
It was a great surprise;
He took away my death and fear,
And opened up my eyes.

I felt His warm embrace,
His kindness flowed to me;
By faith, I felt I saw His Face,
In Love's unbounded sea.

I felt my sin was gone,
From trouble I felt free;
For I rested in Him alone,
Nor knew a sole worry.

Oh, the peace of those days,
That God would look on me,
- Cause me to sing in joy'ful lays
My Hope in Christ to see;

I made no move to God,
That He would move to me;
But found His mercy gives the nod,
When Christ doth set us free.

I sang, my soul did shout,
My pace, in no hurry,
I was at peace with all about,
Christ's peace then did carry-

My goings, up and down,
But I longed for Heaven;
Still cared not for the world's old frown,
While I felt this Haven.

Did others feel this peace
That now possessed my soul?
A Love found me, that will not cease,
For then, o'er me did roll.

How true the poet said:
That tongue cannot express,
Except, we are in this Way led;
His Love will then impress;

When He hath sweetly said,
"I have loved thee of old,
All thy days my Spirit has led
And kept thee in My fold".

"In My Covenant Love
I knew thee, even then;
I'll guide thee now, take thee above,
Though troubles may be ten";

How sweet is early Love,
How wonderful the peace;
And O! the Hope in Christ above,
Where Love shall never cease.
