I Go to Prepare A Place For You

John 14:2- 3.

LM

"In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

O! what joy these words inspire
Of our blessed home in heaven;
In every child, their heart's desire,
That His Love and Grace has given.

"Tis heav'n below His Love to know,
Though in a mortal house we dwell;
A second time Christ lives below
To make His praise within us swell.

It is His Spirit that He sent,
When He for us to the cross went;
And in His tomb left a sweet scent,
Then to His God made His ascent.

The first heaven has passed away,
A better house has come to stay;
Now we rest in Christ Own New Day,
- Have in His bosom sweetly lay.

Mortality now with us stays,
- Must be dissolved and pass away,
But Life shall drink the final cup;
E'en now in this Eternal Day.

The earnest of this house appears,
And on the way our heart it cheers;
As it's sweet Hope calms all our fears,
And wipes away all of earth's tears.

He is the Way of heav'n below,
When Love and Grace on us does blow;
The place where every child does dwell,
And of their Savior they do tell.

For now a mansion we dwell in,
That saves us from a death in sin;
Like Noah's ark, it is akin,
To know Christ's work below begin.

An Holy house, built up in Him,
And every member fitted in;
Mansions of Love, through thick and thin
Though yet it is an interim.

Heavens eternal, hath appeared,
And He has made us sit therein;
But, Oh the Hope, these words do cheer,
While fear yet weighs us down in sin;

For, if such mansions here below,
What matchless glory then shall know;
When even these shall pass away,
With mansions of Eternal Day;

When hope and faith is swallowed up,
And in that House with Christ we sup;
In those bright mansions He prepared,
When God's Own Son, there was not spared.

He, Who our dwelling place has been,
And ever where we have been in;
In the third heav'n we'll fully find
A house where Love has there assigned;

For in this present house yet groan,
Waiting, that bright House to put on;
Where this old mortal then shall don,
And Christ shall live there with His Own.
